Carolina Herrera presented the Spring 26 collection in the Plaza Mayor, which
is not a neutral room. A show staged in the middle of Madrid had to come out
of Madrid rather than be placed on top of it.
So we went to the street signs. In the 1930s the City Council commissioned the
School of Ceramics to make illustrated plaques, each one telling the story of
the street it names. In the 1990s the master craftsman Alfredo Ruiz de Luna
produced more than 1,500 new tiles in the Talavera de la Reina tradition, with
baroque letterforms and ligatures that almost nobody stops to look at.
Those letters became the identity. Manufacturas Tipográficas had already
digitilised the typeface, and done it extremely well, which made it possible to
build a flexible system out of it instead of a single piece of lettering.
From there it ran across everything, physical and digital. The identity
development was led by Oriol Corsà.
A partir d'aquí va anar a tot, físic i digital. El desenvolupament de la
identitat el va liderar l'Oriol Corsà.
